A Warm Welcome to Farnley Tyas Community Website
This Website is designed to bring you community news, and information on local events in and around Farnley Tyas
Farnley Tyas is a quiet village, located four miles South of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.
The village nestles in a picturesque rural setting, on an elevated position overlooking fields and woods, with Huddersfield's famous landmark Castle Hill to the North and Emley Moor transmission tower to the East.
Farnley Tyas is surrounded by green belt and the majority of the village is within a conservation area. It has a number of listed buildings, one of which is the Church, whose spire can be seen for many miles around.
The surrounding countryside to the North and West of the Village is designated as an area of High Landscape Value and there are belts of woodland close to the Village. These areas are very popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
This website is managed by The Farnley Tyas Community Group and the main aim is:-
- To promote appreciation of the village and its surrounding area.
- To encourage the support and collaboration of others in the preservation and sympathetic growth of the community.
To further this purpose the Farnley Tyas Community Group hold meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at The Bowling Club at 7–15pm and all are welcome to attend.
The Farnley Tyas Community Plan was published in 2008 and can be downloaded from this website, or a hard copy can be purchased from the Secretary.
If you have an item for inclusion on the site, please contact the Farnley Tyas Community Group Secretary at thesecretary@farnleytyas.org on the link.
Thanks are extended to all involved in the development of this website.
