Farnley Tyas "Yorkshire in Bloom"

Farnley Tyas Community Group entered the village of Farnley Tyas into the “Yorkshire in Bloom” 2010 event under the Small Village category. The Spring judging took place on Tuesday 20 April and we have been awarded a "BRONZE MEDAL" which is excellent for our first entry.

The Summer judging then took place on 14 July and thanks to everyone who has helped and supported with our village entry to Yorkshire in Bloom this year. The judges were pretty impressed with what they saw (despite torrential rain!)

Particular thanks go to gardeners Dave and June Haigh in Butts Road, Carol Laithwaite in St. Lucius, Graham Sykes for his allotment opposite Church Terrace, Jill and Richard Wood, Maureen Barraclough and Stewart and Jean Littlewood in Manor Road for allowing the judges to look round their lovely gardens. The judges strongly recommended that we take part in the National Gardens Scheme "Open Gardens Day" next year, which is praise indeed. Thanks also to all who left their scarecrows out in the rain- the judges loved them!

Thanks also to all of you who have helped to tidy up the roads and verges outside your gardens; there have been so many who have done their bit in our push towards medals! Results will be announced in September.
